Through hundreds of volunteer-led local projects, national advocacy campaigns, trainings and education, Slow Food USA seeks to transform our food and farming system through the power of everyday people.

About the Opportunity

Slow Food USA is seeking photographers to take pictures of community food events as part of a national campaign to take back the value meal launching on September 17th.  Called The $5 Challenge, the grassroots day of action will showcase potlucks, meals and community food events where the food provided/cooked will be less than $5 per person.  The main message is that slow food doesn't have to cost more than fast food. Photographers are also encouraged to hold their own events. Take The $5 Challenge The $5 Challenge events from city to city will vary, but we’re expecting big community meals and small potluck gatherings in parks, community centers and backyards. Ideal shots would be people-focused (rather than food pictures) and would help tell a visual story of the growing movement around food in America...highlighting that food is a common language for us all, and brings people together.
