About the Organization

Sarrell Dental Center is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization dedicated to improving the oral health of underserved children. Due to the lack of access to dental care, only four out of ten Alabama children enrolled in Medicaid see a dentist every year. In just six years, we have had over 250,000 patient visits. We have become a national role model for the quality delivery of dental care, notably for driving down the cost of care from $328 per patient visit in 2005 to an industry low of $125 in 2010. We are self-sufficient and will see over 100,000 patient visits in 2011, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 50%.

About the Opportunity

The volunteer opportunity is simple: to portray in pictures the amazing story we are delivering. We have won several awards in 2010, including the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation National Award and Alabama Head Start Corporation of the Year. We have been recognized by the NFL Alumni Association – Atlanta Chapter in their “Caring for Kids” program for the last five years. We need your help in showing and spreading the word visually, that there is a cost effective, well managed, patient driven model in Alabama. Our program can be and should be spread to the rest of the country. Thank you for your consideration.
