Mayan Families provides opportunities and assistance to the indigenous and impoverished people of Guatemala, through education and community development programs. Mayan Families operates on the principle that all people should have access to the basic necessities of life. We strive to accomplish our goals through working democratically with the communities we serve.

About the Opportunity

Mayan Families is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives of impoverished people in the western highlands of Guatemala. We run a variety of projects, including a school sponsorship program, elderly care and family aid programs, as well as providing microcredit and job training opportunities. We are looking for a volunteer photographer to shoot photos in the field, to help us produce a collection of photos explaining our various programs, and then assist us in distributing those photos via Picasa Web Albums, posting them to our web site, using them for promotions, etc. in order to maximize their potential impact. Experience in product photography, and/or editorial/lifestyle photography, would be especially helpful. We would also like you to assist us in training and staff development by teaching basic or higher level photography classes, if possible.
