World Vision’s Rural Health Programme Saving Lives

By Collins Kaumba for World Vision International- Zambia

World Vision, a child focused organisation, has strived to create a better world for children through its holistic approach to development. The organisation’s work, especially in the area of health, is amazing and has moved my heart.

I have talked to some families that regret their beloved ones were born without a midwife attending to them and have died without feeling of what it means to be treated and cared for at a clinic. However, these families are now able to smile because of the hope world Vision has given them through construction of health centres, provision of drugs, training and support for community caregivers and equipping of such health facilities. I have seen dire situations, where hope was lost, but has been restored by World Vision and turned into lasting hope for the poor.

The fact that World Vision operates where no other organisations are found but where the greatest need is makes this large organisation a unique one. This has encouraged me to work hard and make a contribution that will continue to bring this kind of assistance to bring smiles on children’s faces.

I thank God World Vision has greatly used my work to seek support from faithful donors who have continued to support various projects in the country. In future, I want to start training community members on how to use simple cameras (video and digital photography) for them to be able to tell stories their own way and assist them to share with donors.
