Homes and education for the families of rural Jiangsu ProvinceBy M. Scott Brauer for Pfrang Association
The Pfrang Association was borne out of the murder of a German family in Nanjing, China, by migrant workers. To address the problem most directly, a number of families and corporations began to donate money to increase access to education and housing in rural Jiangsu Province. Now in its 10th year, the organization has seen some of its original recipients finish middle school and begin college, an opportunity that would be impossible without their involvement. Poverty is a serious problem in China, but seeing the organization work firsthand, in its limited capacity, brings hope that cultures can work together for a brighter future.
